Residents in western Etowah county could be getting some
needed water system improvements if the county is awarded a community
development block grant to help fund the project. The Etowah county commission Tuesday approved
a resolution to apply for the grant on behalf of the West Etowah County Water
Authority. The grant is thru the Alabama
Department of Economic and Community Affairs community development block grant
county fund for fiscal year 2013.
District 4 commissioner Jeff Overstreet who represents western Etowah
county on the commission says the grant is important to residents in rural
Etowah county. Commissioner Overstreet said they have been working with ADECA for several
years on west Etowah and Highland which just completed improvements to their
system.
