The city of Gadsden has received an unexpected increase in
the cities Community Development Block
Grant funding making more funds available for other projects in the city. The Gadsden City Council amended the CDBG
budget tuesday adding $82,472, and increased amounts for several programs. The
city will also have additional money available from a bridge project. Mayor Sherman Guyton says the addition money
will be used for some key projects in the city.
The additional funds include $75,000 for repaving Fifth
Street from Meighan Boulevard to Tuscaloosa Avenue; $4,250 for housing
assistance; $6,000 for MANNA, which delivers luncheon meals; and $2,000 to Way
of the Cross Ministries.
