Former Gadsden Football star gives back to community



A former Gadsden City High and  University of Alabama Football standout  Dre Kirkpatrick, who now plays for the Cincinnati bengals in the NFL says he is giving back
Kirkpatrick announced Saturday that he as set up a new  foundation called 21 Kids. The star defensive back said the foundation is designed to motivate youth in his hometown and surrounding areas, which kicked off the effort with events this past weekend and Gadsden City High School 
Kirkpatrick said The foundation's purpose is giving kids another outlook on life. Letting them know school is cool. And that Getting an education is the thing to do.
Among the goals of the foundation  are to improve public health, promote educational opportunities and enhance community development efforts. It also wants to create and sustain a healthy environment for the mental health community and assist youth in improving their academic and athletic abilities.
The foundation also will provide scholarships to college-bound students.
