The Etowah County Board of Education has approved using a
hundred thousand dollars as leverage In a statewide pool with expectation of
having 1.3 million dollars for capitol projects in the school system. The board Tuesday approved participation in
the Alabama Public School and College Authority School Bond Program for
2013.The board agreed to use $100,000 of the systems $800,000 allocated each
year for capital improvements or issues associated with buildings.Supt. Alan
Cosby said by paying $100,000 into the 2013 pool leverage bond program, the
system will gain the $1.3 million. That
amount must be used for capital improvements and projects and is in addition to
the funds already designated for construction projects at Duck Springs, Glencoe
and Sardis schools. Cosby said no
decision has been reached about which projects the money will be used for.
