Honda has announced plans to suspend production of its
Alabama-made Ridgeline pickup manufactured at is Lincoln plant in Talladega
county. The automaker announced Monday
that it will end production of its current Ridgeline in September 2014, a new
model won't be available until the second quarter of 2016. The Ridgeline is produced at Honda's
Talladega County factory, where workers also build the Odyssey minivan, Pilot
SUV and Acura MDX SUV. Honda spokeswoman
Sara Pines said Monday that that there will be a 2014 model Ridgeline available
later this year, since interest in the product remains high. She said the company will temporarily ramp
down production at the Lincoln facility for a short while, but they will start
back up to meet demand. She said There
will be an eventual temporary suspension, but did not elaborate on the timing.
