An historic marker will be unveiled Wednesday in attalla at
the former Norris High School recognizing the former school and those that
helped create it. The unveiling ceremony
will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday morning
and will kick off a three-day open house
at the center during the biennial Norris High School reunion. The historic marker will include information
about the Norris family that donated the land for the school. Norris High served Attalla's black community
from 1949 until 1969, when it closed because of integration. The Norris reunion
will begin Thursday with more than 150 people expected to attend.
