Police shut down Etowah county internet prostitution operation

The Gadsden police departments special operations unit, along with the FBI, the Etowah county drug task force today announced that a local internet prostitution operation has been shut down,  the result of a sting operation dubbed operation disclaimer.  25 year old Daniel Orabet of a Southside address was arrested on a felony charge of promoting prostitution in the second degree and has been freed on a 25 thousand dollar cash bond.  Gadsden special operations Sgt. Josh Russell said that the sting was prompted by complaints in the community and that the operation had apparently been going on for several years.  Russell said they arrested a number of local females ranging in age from 22 to 40 but refused to release their names.  Investigators said that Orabet thru the internet would arrange encounters for the women with men at local hotels throughout the area.  Russell said the customers were from all walks of life.  Russell said they expect that more arrests may be made as they continue to examine evidence taken from Orabet’s residence.
